Canada to provide further military aid for Ukraine

Ottawa: Canadian Defence Minister Anita Anand has announced that Canada will provide Ukraine with 10 replacement barrels to enable the sustainment of M777 howitzer artillery guns. In a news release, the defence minister said this military aid, valued at approximately 9 million Canadian dollars ($7.2 million), complements Canada's previous donation of M777 howitzers, over 20,000 rounds of compatible artillery ammunition, and the Canadian Armed Forces' training of Ukrainian Forces in the use of this equipment. China advances plans for space solar power plant

Beijing: China has advanced its plans to launch a space solar power plant programme in 2028, two years ahead of the original schedule, according to a new paper. The nation, earlier, aimed to put a 1 megawatt solar energy station in space by 2030. UK to send first long-range missiles to Ukraine

London: British Defence Secretary Ben Wallace announced that the UK will send its first long-range missiles to Ukraine despite a threat by Russian President Vladimir Putin to the West against the delivery of these weapons to Kiev. Defence giant BAE Systems to axe over 1,900 jobs

London: The United Kingdom's defence company BAE Systems announced on Tuesday it was planning to shed over 1,900 jobs in its military, maritime and intelligence services in a move to streamline its business and have a "sharper" competitive edge.
