How the Army, corrupt elite turned Pakistan into a basket case

New Delhi, May 15: Pakistan's Army needs to take a large chunk of the blame for ruining the country's economy. Last year, former Army Chief, General Qamar Javed Bajwa officially admitted that the military has been meddling in politics for decades. "In my opinion, the reason for this is the constant meddling by the army in politics for the last 70 years, which is unconstitutional," he said, adding that the crumbling economic situation must be taken as a lesson and all stakeholders need to work together to safeguard the country's interest.

Changing Landscape Of Terrorism In Kashmir

Changing Landscape Of Terrorism In Kashmir

Raison D’etre Ever since the partition in 1947 on the lines of a skewed religion based two nations theory, the state of Pakistan has not been at peace with itself. From time to time it has engrossed in turmoil largely of it’s own making. Pakistani state has been like a sheep without a shepherd, wandering aimlessly, chasing a non-existent Mirage.

Musings of a Lady General

Musings of a Lady General

It was the 3rd of March, 1980; a date etched in my mind forever.  The date on which I changed from a “Lady Doctor” to a “Lady MO” (medical officer), a most coveted title in the Indian Army. The term actually gives you a great feeling; as it is a three in one combo of a lady, a doctor and an officer ! I was commissioned into the Army Medical Corps as a lieutenant, a proud moment indeed as I happily wore my shiny stars and crisp olive green uniform, ready to take on the world. It was the early eighties when…
