N-capable Agni-V missile canister launch successful

Bhubaneswar  : India Saturday successfully conducted the first canister-based trial of its nuclear-capable Agni-V missile, which is capable of hitting targets over 5,000 km away. Prime Minister Narendra Modi called it "a prized asset". The surface-to-surface missile, which has the ability to hit targets deep inside China, was fired from a mobile vehicle at the Inner Wheeler Island launch site in Bhadrak district, about 200 km from Odisha capital Bhubaneswar, officials said. New Delhi : A younger person should head the Defence Research & Development Organisation, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar said Wednesday. Parrikar added that it was on his recommendation that DRDO chief Avinash Chander's contractual term was ended. Congress leader Digvijaya Singh questioned the sudden decision. New Delhi : A DRDO employee is in critical condition after he attempted suicide by jumping before a Delhi Metro train in the city Thursday, police said. Rajiv Kumar, who works with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), jumped on the tracks at Udyog Bhawan Metro station as a train bound for Jahangirpuri entered the station. New Delhi :  The DRDO is not involved in the export of military equipment but some of its developed products and systems can be sold to "friendly countries", the government said Tuesday. New Delhi :  India and Israel Monday successfully tested the Long Range Surface to Air Missile (LRSAM) in Israel, an official statement said. Lucknow : The Uttar Pradesh government has unveiled a new electronic manufacturing policy which will enable mass production of cell phones, DVDs and computers with other products, an official said Saturday. Inspired by the Chinese model, the policy got approval of the state cabinet after Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav pushed for it.
