High court reserves order on Air India pilots

New Delhi : The Delhi High Court reserved till Thursday its verdict on a plea by Indian Pilots Guild (IPG), an association of Air India pilots, challenging the single-judge order that restrained the pilots of the national carrier from going on an "illegal strike". A division bench of Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Rajiv Shakdher reserved the order after Air India and IPG concluded their arguments. Air India loses Rs.100 crore due pilots’ strike

New Delhi/Mumbai : A grounded fleet, ticket cancellations and unused labour have cost Air India Rs.100 crore in the seven days since the pilots went on strike, an official said Monday. The airline scrapped 14 international flights on the seventh day of the agitation Monday while its low-cost international wing, Air India Express, cancelled four flights. Jakarta : Flight recorders of the Russian Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ-100) that crashed in Indonesia killing 45 people, were found Sunday in a deep gorge but will be brought out Monday, officials said. On Sunday, the Indonesian special police force also found the engines and the running gear of the SSJ-100, RIA Novosti reported citing Indonesian web portal Detik.com. Air India pilots continue strike for fifth day

New Delhi/Mumbai : The Air India pilots continued their agitation for the fifth consecutive day Saturday, forcing the management to cancel 14 flights and re-scheduling many others, even as the protesting aviators also approached Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for his intervention. Airlines advised not to hike fares: DGCA

New Delhi : Amidst crises in Air India and Kingfisher Airlines, the aviation regulator has warned other airlines not to hike fares, a day after the Rajya Sabha was rocked over the issue of rising cost of air travel. "We have advised the airlines not to go ahead with the fare hike. There is no current reason for such a hike as the operating costs have not increased. We are very closely monitoring the situation.
