SAIL supplied 5,700 tonnes of special steel for three newly commissioned Indian Navy ships

New Delhi, June 24 (IANS) State-run Maharatna steel giant SAIL on Wednesday said it supplied 5,700 tonnes of special steel for three recently commissioned Indian Navy vessels. The three naval platforms -- stealth frigate INS Dunagiri, anti-submarine warfare shallow water craft INS Agray and survey vessel (large) INS Sanshodhak -- were commissioned into the Indian Navy by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a ceremony held at Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port in Kolkata. Indian Navy’s operation underway to rescue vessel hijacked by pirates

New Delhi, March 29, The Indian Navy is carrying out an "important operation" against an attempt to hijack a fishing vessel in the Arabian Sea, and rescue it from armed pirates, an official said on Friday. "Based on input about an incident onboard the Iranian fishing vessel 'Al Kambar', two Indian Naval ships deployed in the Arabian Sea for maritime security operations were diverted to intercept the hijacked fishing vessel," the official said. Indian Navy rescues 21 crew from missile-hit Barbados sea Carrier MV

New Delhi, March 7, The Indian Navy warship INS Kolkata has rescued 21 crew members, including one Indian national from Barbados flagged Bulk carrier MV True confidence which was reportedly hit by a drone or missile in the Gulf of Aden. The incident occurred on Wednesday approximately 55 nm South West of Aden, resulting in critical injuries to the crew forcing them to abandon ships, the Navy said. Indian Navy conducts airborne insertion ops over Arabian Sea

Indian Navy rescues cargo vessel under drone attack in Gulf of Aden

New Delhi, Jan 18, The Navy once again came to the rescue of a cargo vessel with 22, including nine Indians onboard, which came under attack by drones in the Gulf of Aden.
