After brief operation, one n-plant of MAPS shut down

Chennai: After restarting power generation for some time on Sunday, the Unit 2 at Madras Atomic Power Station (MAPS) belonging to Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL) stopped operation due to steam leak.According to Power System Operation Corporation Ltd (POSOCO), the 220 MW Unit 2 of MAPS stopped generation at 4.35 p.m. on Sunday due to "H/T to attend steam leak". 2nd n-plant at Kudankulam to restart generation soon

Chennai: The second 1,000 MW unit at the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project (KNPP) will restart generation soon, said a senior official of the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL). The unit was under outage since June 25 afternoon due to control circuit malfunction, said Power System Operation Corporation Ltd (Posco). The unit most probably would restart generation on Tuesday, a senior official told. In May only, the unit was shut down due to water and steam leakage. ‘Ka-226T helicopter JV is being registered, production soon’

The joint venture between India and Russia for producing Kamaov Ka-226T light helicopters in India will open new vistas of defence cooperation between the two countries. The documentation for the JV is over and now formal registration of the JV by respective government bodies is awaited. Indian defence PSU Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd, Russian Rosoboronexport and Russian Helicopters created the JV last year. The JV is formed on the basis of 50.5% share for India and 49.5% shares for Russia.
