Abe regrets US Osprey accident

Tokyo: Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Wednesday regretted the crash-landing of a US Marine aircraft in its waters. The US Marine Corps MV-22 Osprey aircraft crash landed in the sea off Okinawa Prefecture, south of Japan, on Tuesday night, Efe news reported. Defence giant BAE Systems to axe over 1,900 jobs

London: The United Kingdom's defence company BAE Systems announced on Tuesday it was planning to shed over 1,900 jobs in its military, maritime and intelligence services in a move to streamline its business and have a "sharper" competitive edge. The defence company said that up to 1,400 roles would be cut in its military air and information business, 375 would be cut in its maritime unit and 150 would go from its applied intelligence operations, the Daily Express newspaper reported. F-35 joint strike fighters make Australian debut

Canberra: The Lockheed Martin F-35 joint strike fighters (JSFs) have arrived in Australia for the first time, a media report said on Tuesday.The JSFs arrived overnight in preparation for their public debut at the Avalon Airshow in Victoria later during the week, Xinhua news agency said. Russian cargo craft arrives at space station

Washington: The unpiloted Russian Progress 66 cargo ship docked at the Pirs Docking Compartment of the International Space Station on Friday, NASA said. "Today's arrival of the Progress 66 cargo craft, just 24 hours after the capture of the Space X Dragon, makes four spaceships at the International Space Station," the US space agency said. Israel firm signs agreement with Bengaluru’s DTL for UAVs

Bengaluru: Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and Bengaluru-based Dynamatic Technologies Ltd. (DTL) on Wednesday signed an agreement to manufacture mini Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) in India. The agreement will allow the transfer of technology and production capabilities from IAI to DTL to produce mini UAVs as per the Indian requirements under the Make in India initiative.
