Over 74% of Russians approve of Putin: Poll

Moscow, Dec 24 (IANS) A latest poll has showed that 74.3 per cent of Russians approved of Vladimir Putin's work as the Russian President. The survey conducted by the government-owned research centre VTSIOM found that 78.1 per cent of the respondents trusted Putin. According to the results, 59.6 per cent of the polled trusted Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, while 37.3 per cent supported the country's ruling United Russia party. From December 12 to 18, 1,600 Russian adults were interviewed daily via telephone and the results were based on the average value of the seven days.

Australia names ex-PM Kevin Rudd as new US envoy

Canberra, Dec 20 (IANS) Former Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has been appointed the country's next ambassador to the US. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on Tuesday confirmed months of speculation that Rudd, who was in office between 2007 and 2010 and again in 2013, will become the 23rd ambassador to the US, reports Xinhua news agency. Rudd, a former leader of Albanese's Labor Party, will head to Washington early in 2023, replacing Arthur Sinodinos after three years. Deportation of Palestinian rights activist to France condemned

Ramallah, Dec 19 (IANS) Palestinian authorities have condemned Israel's decision to deport East Jerusalem resident Salah Al-Hamouri, a French-Palestinian lawyer and rights activist, to France. Imran Khan promises ‘no action’ against Gen Bajwa after coming to power
