On competing MBBS, there is a period of mandatory internship of one year, before one is able to register as a full-fledged doctor, and the excitement knows no bounds as you are now also eligible to go independently on a temporary duty (TD) besides other trsponsibilities. It was the 3rd of March, 1980; a date etched in my mind forever.  The date on which I changed from a “Lady Doctor” to a “Lady MO” (medical officer), a most coveted title in the Indian Army.
